This is the "Black Knight of Banner Elk!"
I grew up with all kinds of animals…chickens, pigs, cows, horses…and of course, dogs. Here in the High Country of North Carolina, I run into all those breeds from my past, but, somehow, they are far more beautiful than what I remember from South Memphis. This beauty is the "watch rooster" from Mountain Rooster Produce in Banner Elk. He is a BIG BIRD! He is primarily black, but he has white, yellow, and rusty red "dreads" that are incredible. Whether it is "Sweetie (2016)" the Berkshire Hog, or "MOO-Ella" (renamed by the owner of "Grass Fed") or the "King of Crossnore (both from 2015)," my barnyard is full of memories and…fantasies…and colorful characters. Sir Black Knight…take a bow…but watch your step!
