It's the season...fourth quarter...no, not football. Time to pack up and head south. My hummers are off to Mexico. Goldfinches to Florida, I hope. And this old bird is off to Memphis for my 50th HS reunion. 50th! So, today, I started packing...my favorite Kolinsky sables...watercolor tackle box...oil tool kit...so that when I return to the Mountain, I'll put on my boots and Wranglers and hit the road. Different studio, same crazy ideas.
I just uploaded two full sheets, 30x22 and 22x30 that remind me of growing up in Memphis. Saturday's at my uncle Robert's farm in Byhalia, MS where I saw barns, chickens, pigs, horses, cows...you name it. Funny how I paint those same memories today. "Hay" features a majestic barn filled to the rafters with this summer's harvest.
I also uploaded a memory from our old Meals on Wheels route in Crossnore, NC. "Yardbirds" features an open coop and a group of country fowl "dancing" to Alan's song!
So it's time to hit the road...and..."Don't rock the juke box...play me a country song!"
Enjoy!
