So, this summer, I am just too busy to go through that again…I have just added two new Florida paintings to the "New Paintings" section. One, is "Rookery Bay" that is shown above. Rookery is outside of Naples, but still in Collier County. The other is "Seminole--Shadow Dancer." I like them both because they are representative of the SW Florida and some of the "exploring" I did last winter.
This summer, in the Appalachians, I have committed to painting en plain air, by acquiring a permit to paint in the Grandfather Mountain State Park. Didn't know there is one until I asked a Park Ranger. He sent me to his boss, filled out an application and paid $35 activity fee…worth it. I also committed to teach. I have a solo student starting in June, and on July the 11th, an all-day workshop at the Florence Thomas Art School in West Jefferson. In August, I am speaking at The Art Cellar for their Saturday morning "Coffee Talk" with their gallery artists…I did their first one and they trust me now to do it again…the BEST fried baloney (balogna) sandwiches! Deadlines approaching for a few watercolor juried shows…coming soon.
But first, I return to the Cannon Hospital…not for a check-up or anything. I was asked last year by Barbara Timberman to have a one-man show in the Dickson Gallery at the Hospital…Barbara and I hung the show titled "Mountain Folk" last Friday and it will be up through June…opening "meet and greet" is June 6 from 2-4pm. Let that nurse know I appreciate her help…but let's just talk about art this year...
